Covid-19. PRM beats up citizen for not carrying vaccination card

Walking in Mozambique without the document - a card - proving vaccination against covid-19 may restrict access of "unvaccinated" people to public places, as clarified this week by the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi. Although this idea is not yet in force, - and nothing else is expected - three police officers of the Republic of Mozambique Police (PRM), in Manica, beat a citizen for taking to the streets without the card and protective mask.

The officers of the corporation are already in custody, and as told, this Wednesday, the PRM spokesman in Manica, Mário Arnaça, the aggression to the citizen occurred on Sunday afternoon, when the victim was forced to present the vaccination card against covid-19 and a mask.

The victim, not having presented either the card or the mask, was beaten and abandoned on the spot, according to people who witnessed the violence. And, faced with the situation, immediately, popular transported the citizen to the Provincial Hospital of Chimoio.

The PRM said that criminal and disciplinary proceedings have already been initiated against the officers.
