The President of the Republic, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, will speak today at 7pm at the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, a communication to the nation under the State of Public Calamity.

The Mozambican Head of State's communication is made in the context of the current situation of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country, according to a note from the Presidency of the Republic to which MZNews had access.

Currently, Mozambique has 220,241 people infected by covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic, and 24,956 are active cases, according to the National Institute of Health. The institution said on Tuesday that 2,136 people have lost their lives due to the disease. The cumulative number of hospitalizations is 8,286 people. The overall number of those recovered from the disease is 193,145 people.
