Covid-19. There is a country that is already giving the fourth dose of vaccines - "a second booster"

The first country to suggest and introduce the administration of the third dose or booster dose against covid-19 is now back on the front lines as it prepares to give the fourth dose to prevent the disease.

The Israeli government has announced that it will move towards administering the third dose of vaccines, at a time when many countries are still trying to get the third dose to their populations, and others don't even have two or one dose - although some vaccines donated to the poorest countries arrive at their destination to be incinerated because of their expiration date.

The fourth or second booster dose will be given first to the most vulnerable people, these being the elderly over 60 years old, immunocompromised people, and healthcare workers in the frontline against SARS-Cov2.

According to experts, the target group should receive this dose of Pfizer's vaccines in the fourth month after taking the third dose.

Despite this indication, the progress of the measure is dependent on an approval from the country's top public health authority. However, Israel's Prime Minister, Naftali Bennett, has already ordered the preparation of the necessary logistics for another vaccination operation.

"The citizens of Israel were the first to receive the third dose of the covid vaccine and continue to be pioneers with the fourth dose as well," he stressed.

Israel's vaccination campaign, from the beginning one of the most successful in the world, does not cover the population in the Palestinian territories under Israeli control in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
