The restrictions imposed by Spain on flights into its territory from Mozambique and eight other southern African countries were extended today, until December 29 this year, to obstruct the spread of the new variant of covid-19.
Spain maintains restrictions on flights from Mozambique, South Africa, Botswana, eSwatini, Lesotho, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Zambia. According to a Spanish Official Bulletin.
The measure has been in effect since December 2nd, and may be extended depending on the evolution of the pandemic and the decisions that may be adopted in a coordinated manner by the European Union.
From these nine countries, flights to Spain can only be made by citizens of Spain or Andorra, as well as residents of both countries, or passengers in international transit to a non-Schengen country with a stopover of less than 24 hours without leaving the transit zone of the Spanish airport.
Exempt from this limitation are flights by state aircraft, search and rescue services, flights with a stopover in Spanish territory for non-commercial purposes to another country, flights exclusively for cargo, flights for positional and humanitarian, medical or emergency purposes.
This restriction also does not apply to aeronautical personnel required to conduct air transport activities.
