Côte d'Ivoire became African champions of the African Cup of Nations (CAN), in its 34th edition, beating Nigeria 2-1 in the final last night after trailing 1-0.
In a state packed with fans, Côte d'Ivoire were trailing for the first 45 minutes and managed to turn the game in their favor in the second half by scoring the two goals that ensured they won the biggest cup in African soccer.
Côte d'Ivoire dominated the game from the start and were the team that showed the most desire to win the match, especially in the second half.
With this achievement, Côte d'Ivoire have now won their third trophy in the competition, following their triumphs in 1992 and 2015, and are level on points with Nigeria, who also have three trophies to their name.
