The Cabo Delgado Provincial Directorate of the Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) says that the investigation into the disappearance of journalist and political activist Arlindo Chissale is being carried out under judicial secrecy.
SERNIC reported that the investigation is underway, under case no. 04/SERNIC/CD/2025, to "investigate the existence of the crime, determine its perpetrators and their responsibilities, through the discovery and collection of evidence that can support the accusation in the light of the provisions of article 307(1) of the CPP," writes the portal Zumbo FM who says he received a letter of reply from SERNIC in Cabo Delgado.
However, SERNIC pointed out that, due to the nature of the crime and the current procedural phase, the case files are under seal, notes the portal.
"In view of the legal type of crime and the current procedural phase, the case files are kept secret from the courts, so their publication is not admissible, under penalty of simple disobedience, in accordance with the provisions of articles 96, 97 and 98, all of the CPP," reads the publication.
Journalist Arlindo Chissale was last seen in Cabo Delgado province, when he was planning to travel to the city of Nacala, in Nampula province, at the beginning of the second week of January 2025.
