The Mozambique Engineering Laboratory (LEM) intends to start testing and certifying the quality of locally produced and imported steel later this year, an official source said.
Rodrigues Manjate, a researcher at LEM, who was speaking a few days ago on the sidelines of a meeting to reflect on the construction sector, said that as a result of the successful certification work, the national cement industry is already exporting to some foreign markets.
He also said, as quoted by Notícias online, that the phase will focus on companies that produce reinforced concrete for the construction sector. However, the quality of steel will also be tested and certified later this year.
