Consórcio “Mais Integridade” inicia observação da campanha eleitoral

With 1,479 observers stationed in 36 municipalities and 200 correspondents in all of the country's 65 municipalities, the "Mais Integridade" Electoral Consortium will begin observing the electoral campaign for the VI Municipal Elections all over the country this Tuesday, September 26.

In addition to the campaign, which will run until October 8, the Consortium will also observe the voting and tabulation until the results are promulgated by the Constitutional Council.

Set up in 2022, the "More Integrity" Electoral Consortium is made up of CEJP, CIP, NAFEZA, SoldMoz, CESC, MISA Mozambique and FAMOD and aims to contribute to the

transparency and integrity of the 2023-2024 electoral cycle, assessing its course objectively and impartially, producing public and credible information and analysis on the various stages of the process, encouraging the level and quality of citizen participation and contributing to the reduction of electoral tensions.

Among the various dimensions of the observation of the electoral campaign that begins today, particular attention will be paid to the content and strategies adopted by political parties, coalitions of parties, citizens' groups and their respective list leaders in the dissemination of their electoral manifestos, the accessibility of campaign sites for people with disabilities, the participation of women and young people, access to information, the exercise of freedom of the press and expression, the coverage of the process by the media, among other variables associated with the areas of activity of the Consortium's member organizations.

On polling day, particular attention will be paid to the level of preparation and operation of the brigades set up at the polling stations, compliance with polling station opening hours, the availability and operation of equipment and material, and the efficiency of the process, among other things. All observers have been properly trained to carry out these tasks.

In fact, ahead of this crucial phase of the electoral process, the "Mais Integridade" Electoral Consortium once again trained its provincial coordinators and municipal supervisors who, in turn, replicated the training for the observers in each of the municipalities.
