The Constitutional Council has sent a letter to the Supreme Court, asking it to notify all provincial and district courts to refer to it all the electoral litigation appeal cases requested by Venâncio Mondlane, heard and judged by the same courts.
In a letter released yesterday, Tuesday (22), the Constitutional Council justified the request with the need to hear appeals and complaints as a last resort, and to validate and proclaim the election results of these seventh elections.
"In the context of the trials of electoral litigation appeals still underway, and with a view to ultimately assessing the electoral appeals and complaints, validating and proclaiming the electoral results of the Seventh General Elections of October 9, I would like to request Your Excellency's good offices, in order to officiate all the Provincial and District Courts to refer to this Constitutional Council the Electoral Litigation Appeals Processes requested by the Presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane, assessed and judged by the same courts," the letter states.
According to the notification, the Supreme Court is also asked to notify him if there are no cases before the provincial and district courts.
"If the Constitutional Council appeals to the Supreme Court, it means that the courts have not sent it the cases, which signals that the conflict with the courts is far from over," reads the note.
