The National Director of Transport and Safety at the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, Fernando Andela, today unveiled the "new table" of toll rates, which are due to come into force on May 15.

Toll rates could be halved

In an interview with Radio MozambiqueHe clarified that the new prices suggested to the government were based on a study of the transport sector.

"The discounts will be different, because the operators have specific contracts... other contracts are not limited to the Mozambican state," he noted.

Government announces reduction in toll rates across the country

Fees at the Maputo ring road (REVIMO) toll plazas will be halved for 15-seater semi-collective passenger transport, from the current 10 meticais to five meticais, also at the Maputo toll plaza (TRAC). 

For "TPM" passenger buses, the tax will be reduced from 35 meticais to 25 meticais.

Articulated passenger transport, "aka Hungary" will stop paying 380 meticais to pay 130 meticais.

Motorists who live near the tolls will see the fees reduced from the current 16 meticais to 10 meticais.

On the Maputo-Katembe bridge, the proposed reduction in toll rates for frequent users was only for Class 1 (light vehicles), which will no longer pay 125 meticais, but 100 meticais. In addition, residents of Katembe, along its entire length, used to pay 50 meticais and will now pay 40 meticais.

Also on the Maputo-Katembe Bridge, semi-collectives will no longer pay 35 meticais but 20 meticais.
