This year's edition of EY's Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index (RECAI) shows that half of the top 10 most attractive countries for renewable energy investments are European nations. However, the lead is held by the United States of America (USA), which has been at the top of the ranking since last year.
China, for its part, comes in second place, having lost its lead to the US by 2020. India, on the other hand, jumps to third place, after a period of sharp decline in May of last year.
Coming in fourth place, we find the first country in Europe to appear in the index: the United Kingdom presents an upward trajectory, moving from eighth place in 2019 to a position in the top 5 this year. Right after, France, which presents an inverse path, as it was already in third place in 2019.
The top 10 is completed by Australia, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, and Spain, which means that the European continent has the most countries covered, followed by the Asian continent.
According to EY, RECAI "ranks the 40 most attractive countries in the world with respect to the attractiveness of their renewable energy investment and implementation opportunities. As such, the results reflect assessments regarding the attractiveness of each country and global market trends.
