An officer of the Traffic Police was left without help on Wednesday morning after being run over in the district of Marracuene in Maputo. The motorist who caused the accident did not provide assistance and ran away.

Radio Mozambique reports that the driver of a light car was driving in the direction Manhiça-Maputo City.

At the time of the accident, the victim was regulating traffic, and reportedly contracted serious injuries. She is receiving assistance at the Hospital Geral José Macamo.

The Police of the Republic of Mozambique is carrying out investigations to determine the whereabouts of the driver. In this search, the authorities will use data from the vehicle captured by electronic devices installed along the road.
