The Frelimo Central Committee is meeting from today until Saturday in the city of Matola for its IV Ordinary Session.
The Central Committee is made up of more than 250 members and the honorary presidents, Joaquim Chissano and Armando Guebuza, as well as national and foreign guests are also taking part. The event will be led by the President of Frelimo, Daniel Francisco Chapo.
Among the various issues to be debated will be the reports of the Political Commission, the Secretariat of the Central Committee and the Central Office for the Preparation of Elections.
The event will debate the revision of Frelimo's statute and the introduction of new areas in the Central Committee secretariat.
"We are going to change the regulation of the statute specifically, because we are going to introduce the economic area at the level of the secretariat of the Central Committee, but also the training of cadres, which includes decentralization," said Ludmila Maguni, spokesperson for Frelimo.
The meeting will also discuss the government's Five-Year Plan, the Social Economic Plan, the election to fill the new vacancies in the secretariat and the situation in the country.
