Photos: 64-kilometer Russian military column seen by satellite advancing toward Ukraine

Images released by satellite company Maxar Technologies show the 64-kilometer long Russian military column advancing toward Kiev, Ukraine.

The images show the column near the city of Ivankiv, north of the Ukrainian capital, but also reveal Russian military positions in Ukraine and Belarus, including helicopters and ground forces.

Maxar says there has also been a reinforcement of troops and attack helicopters, which are stationed in Belarus, about 20 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.

The mass exodus of refugees from Ukraine to the east of the European Union showed no signs of slowing down yesterday (Feb. 28), with the UN estimating that more than 520,000 people have already escaped the conflict.

Long lines of cars and buses were blocked at border checkpoints in Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania of Moldova. Others crossed the borders on foot, dragging their belongings behind them.
