According to the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Manuel Gonçalves, Mozambique also intends to defend the need to reform international financial institutions and the fight against climate change at the event.
"The reflection is on what to do to face the current challenges of the future. We have concrete challenges in our country that are linked to climate change. We've always had cyclical floods and cyclones. The idea is to debate how we can face these challenges," explained Manuel Gonçalves, in a publication by the Radio Mozambique.
On the same occasion, he lamented the lack of funding to achieve the SDGs at a global level.
The Mozambican delegation, led by the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, will share at Interactive Dialogue 2, under the slogan: "Strengthening Multilateralism for International Peace and Security", Mozambique's vision for building a better country and a fairer world and its potential for accelerating the implementation of the development agenda of the countries of the Global South, as well as reaffirming the country's commitment to multilateralism.
On the 23rd, Nyusi will lead a High-Level Dialogue on the Miombo Initiative, an event organized by Mozambique, which will be attended by heads of state and government from the African countries that own the Miombo forest and US businessmen.
At this event, Mozambique intends to consolidate the financing mechanism for the Miombo Initiative, publicize the governance and fund management platform for the Miombo Initiative and reinforce the commitment to financing the operationalization of the letter of intent adopted in Washington DC.
