Since last Saturday, the Nampula/Niassa and vice-versa railroad circulation has been interrupted due to the fury of the torrential rain that fell at the headquarters of the administrative post of Namina, Mecubúri District in Nampula.
The overflow of the Namina River has removed the supporting soils of the railway line by about 20 meters, leaving it suspended.
According to the report of Radio Mozambique, if it rains again with the same intensity registered from Friday to Saturday, part of the soil along the railway track could collapse, because it is possible to see the fragility of the soil layer.
Meanwhile, the head of the Namina administrative post in Mecuburi, Jacinto Gaita said that in the same area, the torrential rain destroyed 19 homes built with local material.
Jacinto Gaita says he has reported the incident to the company Corredor Logistics Norte, CLN for their intervention.
