The President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, received assurances from his South African counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa, that South Africa will continue to invest in Mozambique, after visiting the neighboring country.
"We have received, through President Ramaphosa, the guarantee of continued South African investment in Mozambique, as well as the certainty that our historical ties will always prioritize the well-being of our peoples," reads the message from the President of the Republic published this Tuesday on his official Facebook page.
Speaking to the press after the visit, Daniel Chapo said that Mozambique and South Africa will work to materialize a "one-stop shop" in the Maputo corridor, as part of the transport of goods between Maputo and the Ressano Garcia border crossing, the longest by land linking the two countries.
"Our idea is to have a one-stop shop and we're already working on it because, as you know, we've had a lot of trucks leaving South Africa for the port of Maputo, but also from Maputo to South Africa and these trucks sometimes take a long time. So we want to have a single stop to make business between the two countries more flexible," said Daniel Chapo, who also said that political and diplomatic issues between the two countries had been discussed.
