Chapo insta AT a inovar nas estratégias de combate à evasão fiscal

The Mozambican Tax Authority (AT) needs to have courage, intelligence and innovation to combat tax evasion and vested interests in the state, which compromise revenue collection.

This position was presented today by the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, speaking in Maputo at the end of his visit to the Ministry of Finance and the AT.

He also stressed that every metical lost to tax evasion, fraud or undue privileges is a right denied to every Mozambican.

"You are on the front line in the defense of citizenship and dignity."

The Head of State pointed to justice as a crucial element in building a progressive, modern, fair and effective tax system.

"Revenue collection is a pillar of the democratic rule of law. Where there is fiscal justice, there is social justice," he stressed.

He also explained that the state needs revenue to better serve its people.

"If it fails, social inequalities will grow and the future will be insecure. We're going to build a state that collects fairly, spends responsibly and serves with dignity, and public servants must serve the nation responsibly," he said. (Text: Noticias)
