Today in Maputo, the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, defended the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to expand human and scientific knowledge.
In this sense, for Chapo, new technological developments should be seen as allies, not threats.
"It is therefore up to universities to ensure that it [AI] is used ethically, ethically, responsibly and competently for the benefit of society. The big message is that universities cannot remain on the sidelines of these changes," he said.
The Head of State was speaking at the swearing-in ceremony for new rectors and vice-rectors of public universities.
The President of the Republic wants the new rectors and vice-rectors to transform universities and science into practical solutions, especially for communities. In this sense, Chapo warns that the country needs universities that only train graduates, but that train critical, creative, entrepreneurial and ethical citizens.
"We need universities that research, that innovate and, above all, that serve the Mozambican people," he said.
