A passenger train linking Maputo city and the town of Marracuene, in Maputo province, started operating today.
The new passenger train, which has the capacity to carry six hundred and thirty-three people in five carriages per journey, began operating at 9.20 am from the central station in Maputo city.
Arrival in the district town is scheduled for 10.16 a.m., with departure back to Maputo city scheduled for 10.40 a.m., according to the head of passenger transportation at the Mozambique Railways Company, Yara Magalhães, quoted by RM.
The source appealed for everyone's cooperation in preserving the buses, and stressed that the introduction of the new passenger bus route linking the town of Marracuene to Maputo city was aimed at reducing the pressure on passenger transport by bus.
