Heineken, the world's second largest brewer, recorded a strong profit margin despite the pandemic.
The maker of Europe's best-selling beer doubled operating profit to 1.63 billion euros, beating the company's first-quarter forecast of 1.22 billion euros.
Dolf van den Brink, Heineken's CEO for a year, explained that in the statement sent to newsrooms, that "the company is satisfied with the first half results, even if they did not reach pre-pandemic levels."
According to the brewery's report, the markets of Asia and Africa were the most affected by the crisis generated by the pandemic. The document also adds that the "rise in commodity prices will hurt the values obtained in the second half of 2021 and in 2022.
Heineken, however, expects "general market conditions to improve in the second half of 2021, given the acceleration of vaccination plans around the world."
