The Deputy Minister of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, Cecília Chamutota, has recently come to represent the Wetskills Water Challenge Program, an initiative of a foundation based in the Netherlands and internationally recognized as a promoter of water-related challenges in various countries, highlighting the talent and knowledge of young professionals.

According to a press release, Cecília Chamutota's appointment to the post took place in Durban, South Africa, at the invitation of the director general of the Wetskills Foundation. This represents a remarkable achievement for Mozambique and recognition of the country's commitment to the development of young talent.

During the event, Chamutota expressed his gratitude for the appointment and stressed that this appointment represents recognition not only for himself, but also for Mozambique, emphasizing the Mozambican government's commitment to investing in young professionals, appointing them to leadership positions in various areas, as a demonstration of confidence in the ability of youth to drive the country's progress.

In addition to her appointment as ambassador, the deputy minister took part in the "Cocreate My CITY" event. During the meeting, experts discussed vital topics such as reducing flood risks in the Durban basin, preparing for the future of the water sector through strategic capacity building, digital solutions for the water sector and the role of the economy in the sustainable development of the water sector.

As part of the event, the Wetskills finals also took place, where young professionals presented their solutions to water-related challenges to a jury of experts.

It should be noted that in 2013, while still an engineering student at UEM, Cecilia Chamutota took part in the Wetskills Water Challenge Program in Maputo and was a member of the winning team.

This experience gave her the opportunity to represent Mozambique in the Netherlands and share knowledge about the water sector.
