After many doubts about whether or not to debate Nyusi's succession, some party members have now cleared the air and confirmed that the issue will be on the agenda of the 3rd ordinary session of the Central Committee, between today and tomorrow.
Francisco Cabo, a former combatant and member of Frelimo's CC, believes that although Nyusi's succession could be debated, it won't be this time that names will be proposed.
"The issue can be discussed, but not to the point of nominating people. But it can also be discussed in such a way as to produce indications, particularly with regard to the candidate's profile. But it all depends on the dynamics of the session," he said, quoted by Radio Mozambique.
On Thursday (04), the President of Frelimo said that the CC session should not feed sensationalist debates, but should reflect the struggle for existential, common and supreme issues.
"This is not the time to look for individual protagonists to fuel sensationalist debates. Frelimo is a collective around a command at all times," he said at the close of the 2nd ordinary session of the National Committee of the Association of Combatants of the National Liberation Struggle.
