A couple is being held to account by the Republic of Mozambique Police (PRM) in the district of Nhamatanda, Sofala province, accused of murdering their daughter. They are accused of murder and trafficking in human organs.
The case was reported by STVHe described how the couple took the minor's life by asphyxiating her with rope. They also skinned the child and removed her fingernails.
The victim was actually the woman's daughter. She moved in with her accomplice, the victim's stepfather, about three months ago.
After committing the crime, they took the girl's body and tried to hide it in the middle of the woods. But the community discovered the body and reported the case to the police.
"With the help of a rope, these two men, who are being presented here, asphyxiated her and then began to remove part of her body with an unidentified object. In detail, they began to remove her nails and skin," said PRM spokesman Dércio Chacate.
The victim's mother accused her husband of planning the whole thing and knowing the buyer.
The husband, for his part, denies that he took part in the crime and says that he found the girl already dead when he returned from work.
The police suspect that the couple were trying to get rich by selling the victim's body parts. "At this point, our agencies and officers are working hard to determine where these nails and this part of the skin should be sold."
The National Criminal Investigation Service was called in to identify the possible buyers.
