The Mozambican national soccer team, the "Mambas", lost this afternoon by three goals to nil against Cape Verde, thus complicating their qualification for the last 16 of the 2023 edition of the African Nations Championship (CAN).

The result for the Cape Verdeans began to take shape in the 32nd minute, when Bebé unleashed a fierce shot from the middle of the road, from a free kick, which caused an explosion of joy among the thousands of fans in the stands at the Stade Félix Houphouet-Boigny in Abidjan.

In the second half, it was Ryan Mendes' and Kevin Pina's turn to put the finishing touches to the game in the 51st and 69th minutes respectively, thus sealing the final result of the second Group B match.

Having done the math, Cape Verde now have six points and are top of Group B. They are followed by Egypt, with two points, Ghana and Mozambique, both with one, heading into the third and final round.
