A few hours before the start of the electoral campaign, the Mahometan Community is calling for civility, non-violence and respect for the electoral law.
In a statement, the Mahometan Community calls for the democratic rule of law to be respected throughout the process.
"Enough with the recurrent episodes of violence! These acts that have characterized this moment shame us all and set us back," says the Mahometans' statement, referring to the conflicts and acts of violence that characterized the electoral campaign of last year's local elections.
He also called for strict compliance with electoral legislation before, during and after the elections.
"It is an undeniable fact that the country's laws are revised 'on the spur of the moment' when elections are held, which makes it extremely challenging for the main players to take ownership of the legal instruments.
Nevertheless, laws exist to guarantee regulation and social cohesion (...). We therefore call for scrupulous respect for the law during the campaign and in the moments following this phase."
