Traffic in both directions over the Maputo-Katembe bridge, in the city of Maputo, was interrupted for around 30 minutes at dusk on Thursday (12), following a fire that reduced the engine of a high-tonnage truck on its way to the city of Matola to ashes.

The vehicle was carrying the driver and his assistants, who were unharmed. They themselves do not know the cause of the incident. The driver's cab was hit by flames.

The vehicle was carrying a mechanical backhoe and stopped traveling when it finished climbing the bridge.

The intervention of the public rescue corps prevented further damage. (Imagen: DR)
