Cabo Delgado: Terrorists steal ambulances and medicines in Quissanga

Cabo Delgado: Terroristas roubam ambulâncias e medicamentos em Quissanga

A group of Islamic insurgents stole two ambulances during the most recent attack on the Quissanga district, which took place last March in Cabo Delgado province, northern Mozambique.

According to sources quoted by the newspaper "The Country"In addition to the two ambulances, the terrorists also stole another state vehicle. "The vehicles were loaded onto boats, and we don't know where they've gone, but we've heard that the vehicles are being used by the terrorists in the Macomia district," revealed a resident of Quissanga.

As well as vehicles and other property belonging to the population and the state, the group stole medicines and destroyed several houses and buildings.

"They entered Quissanga at around eight o'clock on March 2 and didn't leave until March 17. There were around 500 men and they came in military and police uniforms, carrying almost all kinds of weapons, but they didn't fire once and they didn't kill anyone, they just stole people's property and abandoned their homes out of fear. They set fire to the police station, the administrator's residence and all the tents where some state institutions functioned were burnt down," reads the same publication in the newspaper "The Country".

However, just as in Quissanga, in Quirimba the armed group stole considerable quantities of food that they found in the stores and left the population hungry.

Cabo Delgado province has been facing terrorist attacks for more than six years, which have led to a military response since July 2021, with support from Rwanda and the Southern African Development Community, liberating districts near the gas projects.
