Cabo Delgado: Italy and Eni invest 4 million euros in the Blue Economy

Cabo Delgado: Itália e Eni investem 4 milhões de euros na Economia Azul

The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and the oil company Eni are investing more than four million euros (almost 300 million meticais) to implement projects to strengthen the Blue Economy in Cabo Delgado province.

The projects called “ecoblu” and “blue Ibo” will last around three years and will be implemented in the districts of Ibo and Pemba.

“These programs are fully in line with the priorities of the Government of Mozambique, in particular the efforts to promote a sustainable Blue Economy and responsible management of natural resources. At the same time, it reflects Italy's commitment to the sustainable development goals of the United Nations 2030 agenda, in particular goal 14,” said Italy's ambassador, Gabriel Annis.

For his part, the Secretary of State in the province highlighted the fact that the Blue Economy is a strategic and structuring vector for reconstruction, generating decent jobs and reaffirming sovereignty over natural resources.

“These projects represent a qualitative leap in the way we conceive of territorial development based on science, community participation and international cooperation,” he said. (Source: TVM)
