The Secretary of State in Maputo Province has asked religious leaders to join in prayers for an end to terrorism in Cabo Delgado, which has been going on for more than six years.
Judith Mussácula, who was speaking yesterday in Maputo at a seminar on dialogue and training in matters of the right to religious freedom, believes that religious people have a fundamental role to play in moralizing society and resolving conflicts.
The governor's request comes at a time when terrorist attacks in some districts of Cabo Delgado province have been intensifying in recent months.
According to UNHCR data, since 2017 the conflict has caused more than 1.2 million internally displaced people and incalculable human and material damage.
