Cabo Delgado province could receive a special budget to deal with the challenges of stability and security as victims of terrorism return to their areas of origin.
According to Notícias, which quotes the President of the Planning and Budget Committee of the Assembly of the Republic (AR), António Niquisse, the proposal for a special budget for the province could be debated in parliament.
"We're going to check the specifics of this need that Cabo Delgado has, because of the effort needed in the area of defense and security. I think there will be a supplement that represents the scale of these challenges so that we can guarantee the total restoration of security and, in an unconditional way, the population can move around and carry out their activities. Life must return to normal," he said.
He was speaking last week in that province as part of a meeting between MPs and the local government. Niquice will also work in Nampula and Zambézia to identify aspects that can help improve the capacity for planning, budgeting, implementation, reporting and internal control, and to check on progress in drawing up the proposals for the State's Economic and Social Plan and Budget for next year.
On the other hand, he will learn about developments in the business sector, with a focus on the extractive industry, but also find out about opportunities to better manage public finances, and take note of the supervisory activities of the Provincial Assemblies.
