State officials and agents from the Quissanga district, who are refugees in the city of Pemba, the capital of Cabo Delgado, following the frequent movement of terrorists and attacks in some villages, say it is premature to return due to security concerns.
A publication by Letter from Mozambique says that the unavailability follows an alleged plan to persuade employees to return to their jobs, especially to guarantee basic services such as health and education.
"For the time being, it will be difficult to return because the situation is not good," said an official from the District Health, Women and Social Action Service, quoted by the same publication, recalling that the terrorists were in Nacoba village last week, where they vandalized the local health center.
"We're not refusing to go back, but the government must guarantee security throughout the district, because it's not enough to go there and run out again," added another employee, a teacher by the way.
Meanwhile, the administrator of Quissanga, Sidónio José, quoted by Carta de Moçambique, made it public that none of the seven health units in the district are working. He also announced that all the schools are still closed.
