A total of 9,100 voters, which represents 31.1% of the target, have already been registered in Quissanga district, Cabo Delgado province, northern Mozambique.
The figures were released on Saturday (11) by the spokesman for the National Electoral Commission (CNE), Paulo Cuinica, during the program "Linha Directa" on Radio Mozambique.
According to Paulo Cuinica, the data from the electoral census underway in the Quissanga district is encouraging, despite the limitations imposed by the terrorist actions.
"In general, we're quite satisfied, but we're still working. We'd like to reach the target by then," said the CNE spokesman, who expects to register around 28,930 voters in Quissanga by May 15.
Voter registration in the Quissanga district has been extended by the government due to instability caused by Islamic insurgents.
