The government of Chiúre district in Cabo Delgado is urging people who are returning to their areas of origin after the terrorist attacks to take up farming in order to rebuild their lives.
These are the populations of the Chiúre Velho, Mazeze and Ocua administrative posts, where terrorist incursions were recorded at the end of February.
Cited by Radio MozambiqueIn Pemba, the administrator of Chiúre, Oliveira Amino, said "it is necessary for displaced families to return to their areas of origin and engage in productive activities to combat food dependency".
Oliveira Amimo said that the challenge at the moment is to get the state institutions up and running at the headquarters of the Mazeze administrative post, where some of the infrastructure was destroyed by the terrorists.
"For those who have fields, it's ideal that they start looking after their fields again. At the moment we are seeing that these returns are happening smoothly," said the source.
