Cabo Delgado: Nyusi administration tries to hold talks with terrorist leadership... and there are names

Cabo Delgado: Administração Nyusi tenta dialogar com liderança terrorista… e há nomes

Yesterday in Maputo, the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, revealed for the first time that his administration has set up qualified bodies to talk to terrorist leaders in Cabo Delgado.

The Commander-in-Chief of the FADM also acknowledged that the country is under terrorist attack, but noted that the leadership still remains obscure.

"We continue to say that this is the fight against terrorism, which in Mozambique tries to hide its real face and does not make its intentions clear. However, there has been no shortage of tangible steps, involving reliable and reputable chains. However, we dispense with details and hasty descriptions of the sensitive product, which is far away and difficult to achieve," he said.

The Head of State was speaking on the occasion of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Armed Forces and Defense of Mozambique (FADM) and the launching of the National Liberation Struggle.

On that occasion, he revealed the names of some individuals at the top of the hierarchy of terrorist groups operating in some districts of Cabo Delgado. Among them is Tanzanian citizen Abu Zainabo "Langa", supposedly a spiritual leader. He is assisted by Faride Suleimane Harrune. The operational commanders and ideologues of the groups are Abú Munir Ahmade "quadrado", Seleimane Nguvo M'toto, Mahamude Ibrahimo Dade and Rafael Mazucu.

"Some of these names could be war aliases. We have control, and we know that the terrorists are confined to some areas of the administrative posts of Mucojo and Quiterajo, in the district of Macomia, from where they carry out sporadic attacks," he said

According to the President of the Republic, between the night of September 24 and the moment he was speaking, the Defense and Security Forces were under crossfire against the terrorists in Mucojo.

"The young people are making efforts to reoccupy the whole of Mucojo. They're there now. Let's hope the good times repeat themselves in a few hours' time," he said.
