The Renamo list leader in Nacala Porto, Raul Novinte, and current mayor of Nacala, will be heard today by the Nacala Porto District Prosecutor's Office in Nampula province.

It should be noted that Raul Novinte is under house arrest by order of the District Court, at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office. They are also suspended from exercising their functions, their profession and the law.

Novinte and ten other Renamo members, who will also be heard today, are accused of crimes of disturbing public order and tranquillity and of continuing criminal activity, which has led to the suspension of their functions, profession and rights.

According to CIP Eleições, the court considers that if these measures are not taken, there are risks or dangers of: (1) the defendants fleeing, (2) the course of the preliminary hearing or the investigation being disrupted and (3) the disturbance of public order and tranquillity or the continuation of criminal activity, due to the personality of the defendants.
