The Anglican Council of Mozambique has joined several other civil society organizations and condemns the murder of Elvino Dias and Paulo Guambe.
"The Anglican Council of Mozambique has been following recent events in our country with great concern and prayer. The saddest thing is that it is not those who colonized us who are killing Mozambicans today, but we are killing each other as brothers, as compatriots, as Mozambicans, just because of different opinions," said the Anglican bishops.
In a statement, the bishops lamented the fact that "all this is happening while we are still mourning the lives of our brothers and sisters who died in Cabo Delgado because of terrorism. We want to remind you that the pain over the loss of these innocent souls has not yet healed."
In their letter, the Anglican bishops also call for an end to this kind of problem.
"We are shocked and concerned by the continuous bloodshed since the barbaric murder of Elvino Dias and Paulo Guambe and other subsequent murders and injuries caused by bullets and other instruments. To this shocking scenario we say, enough right now."
Regarding the demonstrations taking place across the country following the electoral process, the bishops call for "a sincere and honest dialogue to be developed involving political leaders to resolve differences for a peaceful transition of the cycle of governance; the institutions of justice and electoral management to listen to the concerns of those who are complaining.
