Benvinda Levi destaca apoio da igreja Católica nas áreas sociais em Moçambique

Prime Minister Benvinda Levi said on Sunday (18) that if the Catholic Church continues to be a great partner in social areas, especially in education, Mozambique has a lot to gain.

Speaking on the occasion of the investiture ceremony of Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican, she highlighted the continued support of the Catholic Church not only in Mozambique, but for the entire African continent.

"One of the things that I think will be important is to see how the Catholic Church can continue to be a true partner, not only for Mozambique, but for Africa, particularly in the social area, which is education and health. I think that if the Catholic Church continues to give this support, Mozambique has a lot to gain," said the source.

Quoted in a Sunday newspaperBenvinda Levi added that she hopes Pope Leo XIV's pontificate will be a factor of unity between citizens of different faiths.

"We hope that he has a long pontificate, that he has a pontificate that is closer to the people, particularly the disadvantaged classes, but not only that, that all social strata find in the Church a space in which the Pope is a uniting factor between people of all faiths, as we have been doing recently," he concluded.

Benvinda Levi attended the investiture of Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican, representing the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo.

The presence of a Mozambican delegation at the highest national level at the investiture of the new Pope reflects the strengthening of relations of friendship, solidarity and cooperation between Mozambique and the Holy See, links that go back to the Agreement for the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations, signed on December 14, 1995.
