On Monday, the Prime Minister, Benvinda Levi, swore in the Directors General of the Institute for the Promotion of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (IPEME), the Agency for the Promotion of Investment and Exports (APIEX), the Cereals Institute of Mozambique (ICM) and the Central Regional Water Administration (ARA centro).
During her speech, the governor called for innovation and agility from the newly appointed officials.
They are Luís José Machava, who will take up the post of Director General of APIEX, Feliz Pedro Malate, who will take up the same post at IPEME, Luís José Job Fazenda, appointed to the post of Director General of ICM and Hilário Morais Pereira, Director General of ARA-Centro. For each of them, Benvinda Levi left specific recommendations.
To the newly appointed Director General of APIEX, Levi said he hoped the institution would continue to consolidate its role as a gateway for investment in the country, ensuring that approved projects are effectively implemented in good time.
For this reason, she recommended improving the mechanisms for promoting and disseminating the country's business potential and opportunities at home and abroad; developing activities aimed at creating synergies within the framework of our country's industrialization process; and ensuring the effective operation of special economic zones and industrial free zones.
To Feliz Pedro Malate, Director General of IPEME, the Prime Minister recommended actions to stimulate the creation, development and modernization of national Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises; the improvement of mechanisms to ensure ongoing technical assistance and institutional capacity building for MSMEs, including an increase in business incubators; promoting actions that help MSMEs gain access to more resources from financial institutions and/or other existing mechanisms; and continuing to promote the establishment of partnerships and links between MSMEs and large national and international companies.
To the new Director General of the ICM, she called for the improvement of the mechanisms and actions that guarantee the modernization of cereal management, logistics and marketing, in close articulation and coordination with the private and family sectors; and the strengthening of the system for the purchase, storage, conservation and disposal of agricultural surpluses, as well as the constitution of strategic cereal reserves.
Finally, Benvinda Levi recommended to Hilário Morais Pereira, Director General of ARA-Centro, the implementation of concrete actions that lead to better management of water resources and mitigation of the impacts of floods and droughts; the improvement of measures and actions that ensure the preservation of water quality, both for consumption, animal watering and irrigation; and the adoption and implementation of actions that allow for the expansion, improvement and modernization of water infrastructures, in order to guarantee the availability of safe water both for consumption and for agricultural and industrial production.
