On Monday, July 31, the BCI Auditorium hosted the launch of "Maputo Pedalando", an initiative of the Maputo Municipal Council (CMM), with the support of the BCI, to promote the use of bicycles as a mobility option in the urban context. This year's cycling event in Maputo is scheduled for August 19th.
As mentioned on the occasion, this event will allow different generations to meet and enjoy walks in the beautiful 'City of Acacias and Jacarandas', marking the beginning of a process of building and transforming social habits to promote citizenship.
The program includes an inter-district race, with the participation of professional cyclists, and a march, in which hundreds of residents will take part in a relaxed and enthusiastic atmosphere.
The aim of the initiative is also to encourage residents to adopt good practices, such as using alternative means of transport, promoting sport and health and, as the BCI's Public Relations Director, Heisler Castelo David, said, it has the merit of bringing together a number of objectives with which the BCI identifies, including sustainability and social inclusion.
The press conference was also attended by the CMM councillor, Alexandre Xavier Mondlane, and the President of the Automobile & Touring Club of Mozambique (ATCM), Rodrigo Rocha.
