The "Energy for All" program of the Government of Mozambique will benefit from the support of the African Development Bank (ADB) in the order of 36 million dollars, says a joint note to the media.

The initiative - which plans to connect the entire country to the national electricity grid - is already underway, and this amount approved by the ADB is also intended for people displaced due to the terrorist attacks in Cabo Delgado province. Thus, the project is to be implemented in coordination with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR),

The plan will contribute to the expansion of residential connections and access to the national grid, as well as energy export levels, and also promote quality improvement.

The ADB resident representative in Mozambique, Mba Abogo, cited in the note, stressed that the plan will pay particular attention to residents of the province of Nampula, which is home to people displaced by the generalized violence in northern Cabo Delgado, as well as refugees," and plans to cover 49,000 people.

The document further indicates that the ambition is to "triple energy exports, incorporating more renewable sources such as solar and wind, and attracting more investment flows as domestic energy supply and stability improve."

The Government aims to achieve two million new connections by 2024, benefiting more than 10 million people, bringing the population (30 million inhabitants) with energy at home from 34% to 64%.
