The family of Mozambican rapper Edson "Azagaia" da Luz will receive one million meticais. The amount was raised on Sunday night, during a fundraiser broadcast live by Success TV.

"I'm speechless. It's an extremely pleasant surprise. Thank you so much," said Rosa da Luz, the rapper's wife, visibly moved.

It's a sum donated by people who identify with the stories and causes presented in the Mozambique in Concert program, where this type of fundraising usually takes place.

It should be noted that in the first 25 minutes, the donors had already accumulated more than half a million meticais.

The show's presenter, Gabriel Júnior, has assured that the money will be delivered this Monday.

"We'll deliver the amount tomorrow," he said.

According to the broadcaster, the rapper's family left their home as a result of the recent rains that flooded the city and province of Maputo.
