The government says it is creating conditions for the strategic port of Mocímboa da Praia, in Cabo Delgado, destroyed by the insurgency, to start operating again next May.
According to VOA's news, the port of Mocímboa da Praia is of capital importance for the logistics of both the Mozambican military and the international force fighting terror in Cabo Delgado, as well as the liquefied natural gas exploration project under development in the district of Palma.
The town of Praia is about 70 kilometers from the construction area of the natural gas exploration project led by the French group Total.
The national director for Logistics and Private Sector Development, of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Ambrósio Sitoe, said that "the work is on the reconstruction of the port infrastructure destroyed by the war, specifically the port of Mocímboa da Praia.
Ambrósio Sitoe referred that the management of the port was handed over to a private entity, "with whom we are working in the perspective of quickly creating minimum conditions so that the ship can dock, starting next May".
It should be noted that the town of Mocímboa da Praia was recovered on August 8, 2021, by Mozambican and Rwandan troops, after about a year of jihadist occupation.
