In partnership with the Mozambican Tax Authority (AT), the Chamber of Customs Brokers (CDA) recently held a training session in Maputo on Rules of Origin.
The session is aimed at Customs Brokers and Brokers' Helpers and aims to train them in tools for perceiving, interpreting and applying Rules of Origin.
The event was opened by the President of the CDA, Salmate Chuaibo, who said that training in Rules of Origin reinforces professional quality and technical excellence in the exercise of the profession, as well as compliance with procedures, ethics and deontology.
Deputy Director of the AT's Internal Control Office, Davário Mutuque, emphasized the AT's role in collecting revenue to finance public spending, an action carried out in parallel with the Customs Broker.
In another development, he referred to the recent meeting between the AT and the CDA, in which the President of the AT referred to the performance of foreign trade revenue collection as being below the target set, and therefore reiterated the need for greater responsibility, integrity and transparency in the customs clearance process.
Finally, Mutuque stressed the importance of seriously investing in improving the skills of human capital, pointing out that "the CDA and Customs must continue to train and empower their officials and employees as a way of improving their performance". (Press Release)
