The General Commander of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM), Bernardino Rafael, revealed that a significant number of weapons used in crimes belong to the Defense and Security Forces and others belong to private security companies.
According to Rafael, in a total of 3,546 crimes recorded in the first quarter of the year, 21 were committed with the weapons of public and private security agents, as well as those acquired in South Africa.
"We are concerned about this situation, so the process of collecting weapons, in alien hands, will continue in order to prevent the occurrence of criminal cases," said the commander, quoted by the newspaper "Notícias".
On the other hand, the official promised to continue the work of purging from the ranks of the PRM members with deviant behavior, "and who tarnish our reputation and mission of ensuring law and order."
The PRM notificated 246 accidents in the first 90 days of this year, which, unfortunately, resulted in 223 human lives lost, an average of one death per accident.
For the commander-general, the human factor continues to be the main cause for the occurrence of traffic accidents, 130 of which are the result of speeding.
