Apreendidas garrafas de óleo alimentar contrafeito

The National Inspection of Economic Activities, INAE, and the Tax Authority of Mozambique identified last Friday, twelve brands of counterfeit cooking oil being sold in the country.

INAE's spokesman, Tomás Timba, who disclosed the fact on Tuesday in Maputo, assured that actions are underway to withdraw the product from the domestic market, since besides being the result of smuggling, the oil is not fortified.

Tomás Timba explained to Radio Mozambique that the counterfeit brand packages were identified as part of the Healthy Oil operation, which aims to promote the consumption of fortified products in the country.

According to the source, in the same operation 438 bottles of counterfeit cooking oil were learned, corresponding to 859 liters.

The INAE spokesman calls on consumers to pay more attention when buying products, which must be fortified, i.e. enriched with vitamins and minerals.

The spokesman for the Mozambique Tax Authority, Fernando Tinga, assured that actions are underway to identify the origin of the product.
