Apple, quarter after quarter, continues to break sales and revenue records. These results catapult the Cupertino giant to the top spots in the Fortune Global 500 ranking.
According to the updated list published this Monday, Apple is now the most profitable company, moving up from third place last year. When it comes to revenue, it is now in sixth place, after appearing in 2020 in 12th position.
According to the portal "Pplware", for this jump in the table is the $57 billion raised by Apple in the fiscal year ending March 2021.
The company led by Tim Cook is getting stronger and stronger, and the results of both sales and revenue speak for themselves. Recently, the company posted a new record in the last quarter of 2021. However, it was the 2020 revenues that allowed Apple to jump to the top spot in the earnings figure.
So in fiscal year 2020, Apple made a profit of $57 billion, making it the most profitable company in the world that ended Saudi Aramco's two-year reign as the most profitable oil company. That's $57 billion in profit for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2021, up from $55 billion the year before.
Apple also regained the 3rd place in the largest US companies, which it had lost last year to Exxon Mobil. However, ahead of it are still Walmart and Amazon.
Fortune writes that the pandemic has created new challenges and opportunities to Apple, and despite looming anti-trust concerns, Apple achieved a new all-time high revenue of $275 billion: "the pandemic created challenges and opportunities for Apple. CEO Tim Cook has had to close stores and send engineers home. But with Apple customers around the world working and learning from home, sales of iPad and Macintosh computers soared to their highest levels ever. Thus, revenues for the fiscal year also reached an all-time high, at $275 billion."
