After wave of demonstrations public order situation returns to normal

Após onda de manifestações situação de ordem pública volta à normalidade

The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) say that the public order situation has returned to normal in the city of Maputo, following the wave of demonstrations that took place this Friday.

"The city of Maputo is calm, people have understood the appeals that we have been making to stay and go back to their homes and we hope that this calm mindset will continue and that legitimate channels will be used to deal with any dissatisfaction and not the destruction of public and private infrastructure," said the PRM spokesman in the country's capital, Leonel Muchina, quoted by RM.

It should be noted that four people were arrested in the country's capital as a result of the demonstrations that took place yesterday in protest at the election results announced by the National Electoral Commission.
