Frelimo's candidate for the presidential elections on October 9, Daniel Chapo, will submit his candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic next Wednesday, according to a source in the Constitutional Council.

Daniel Chapo was elected the party's presidential candidate in a close vote at the party's school in Matola on May 6, with 225 votes from the members of the Central Committee, corresponding to 94.1 percent of the 249 voters.

He edged out Roque Silve, who dropped out on the second lap.

He later held the position of Governor of Inhambane province.
