The former Attorney General of the Republic (PGR), Joaquim Madeira, says that the Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) should summon political parties that use state resources to explain themselves.
Quoted in a publication in the newspaper "O País", Madeira believes that where it is proven that electoral offenses have been committed, the Prosecutor's Office should act
In fact, the law is clear on this issue: it prohibits the use of public property by political parties, coalitions of political parties or groups of citizens and other candidates.
In the publication we have been quoting, the former Attorney General of the Republic recalls that the OPG has a role to play.
"One of the tasks of the Public Prosecutor's Office is to summon bodies when they are involved in a situation that constitutes a crime. Therefore, it is obliged to issue subpoenas. Now it's up to the law. That's all I can say about that."
However, he warns that intervention should only take place in situations where there is evidence of electoral misconduct.
A few days ago, an amateur video showed the use of a vehicle from the recently acquired lot for the Education Sector Support Fund for the Frelimo party's election campaign.
